Poll standings this week are relatively unchanged since last week, with this week bringing a hefty set of non-conference match-ups for WCHA teams. It was a good week for Michigan Tech, with their win over Bowling Green bringing the Huskies four more points that last week. Additionally, BGSU lost seven points, opening up the gap between 2nd and 3rd, but Minnesota State's two-point gain after carrying a close game with #2 St. Cloud State means that the Huskies are going to have to fight for every point they want to gain this week. Tech will be playing a Winter Carnival series against the Lake Superior State Lakers while Minnesota State faces off against the strong BGSU squad that brought in all but one of the 3rd-place votes..
|1||Minnesota State (7)||97||1||14-9-5||1||2||0||1|
|2||Michigan Tech (3)||93||2||14-7-5||1||2||0||1|
MSU blew open the Lakers two weeks ago, winning 8-0 on Friday and 5-1 on Saturday, and Tech will likely have to put up similarly crowd-pleasing numbers to actively gain any points. More likely is that MSU and BGSU grind it out, and MSU could lose ground in the polls if they underperform against the Falcons.
The only big change on the week is Northern Michigan dropping five points while Bemidji State gained nine. This comes on the heels of #33 NMU splitting their series with #19 Minnesota-Duluth, and #34(t) BSU defeating #20 Minnesota and falling to #2 St. Cloud State. No other teams in the WCHA had a change of five or more points.
